Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Blackbeard The Pirate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Face in the Sand kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Blackbeard The Pirate! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 17 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Fred Jones! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A momentary lapse in concentration from The Pirate enables Jones to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. The Pirate manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jones postures up and lands a big shot to The Pirate's brow. The Pirate pulls Jones in close to prevent any damage. The Pirate's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones throwing strikes but missing. Jones stopping the sweep attempt from The Pirate. The Pirate keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Pirate working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones. Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. The Pirate preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! The Pirate looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. The Pirate looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from The Pirate! The Pirate working away. The Pirate controls the position. Jones can't do much from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to regain half guard here but The Pirate keeps moving and retains side control. Jones struggling a bit here. The Pirate is staying tight to Jones's torso, preventing him from escaping.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. The Pirate throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. A clash of legs there as Jones blocks the low kick. A good leg kick by The Pirate. The Pirate looks to land a body kick but Jones moved away. Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Jones fails with the takedown. The Pirate chopping away at his opponent's legs.
The Pirate moves into range and connects with a jab. The Pirate tries to clinch up. Jones throws a body kick that misses. The Pirate closes the distance and clinches. A short left from The Pirate. Jones tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Jones tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Jones is trying to break the clinch but The Pirate has him pressed against the cage. Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as The Pirate walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The Pirate swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. The Pirate throws a leg kick which misses Jones's front leg but catches the back leg as Jones tries to avoid it. Jones shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. The Pirate is trying to defend but Jones finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones is looking for a kimura but The Pirate is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage. Jones not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Jones seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead The Pirate has recovered full guard. The Pirate is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Bushido Training Center that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Jones trying to control but The Pirate is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The Pirate lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. The Pirate stands up from Jones's guard - The Pirate perhaps looking for a knockout. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Fred Jones will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Jones blocks the body kick.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as The Pirate sprawls well. The Pirate wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. Blackbeard The Pirate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The Pirate finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The Pirate feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down. The Pirate misses with a straight right. Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Jones pushing down on The Pirate's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The Pirate moves into full guard.
The Pirate keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Fred Jones has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones drops back looking for a leg! The Pirate is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and The Pirate manages to kick Jones off! Jones jumps back into The Pirate's guard. Jones throws a strike but The Pirate rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The Pirate won't allow Jones to get back to his feet. The Pirate slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. The Pirate is stalling in the full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Blackbeard The Pirate has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Jones looks to land a body kick but The Pirate moved away. A big left from The Pirate misses. The Pirate fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones avoids the head kick by The Pirate.
The Pirate moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off. Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jones tries to move into range but The Pirate moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. The Pirate slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Donk. The Pirate catches Jones right on the button with a cross. The Pirate gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch. The Pirate putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Jones in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Blackbeard The Pirate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Jones. A shot in the inside from The Pirate. The Pirate using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jones has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
The Pirate lands a right hand. The Pirate with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Jones has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by The Pirate after a bit of a struggle. The Pirate goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Jones is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. The Pirate can't fight it off and eventually Jones manages to take the fight to the floor. The Pirate looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jones is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The Pirate seems keen to control Jones's posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to control but The Pirate is working from the bottom. Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Jones trying to control but The Pirate is working from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. The Pirate throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Jones jabs The Pirate to the body, keeping him at a distance. The Pirate is looking to clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The Pirate misses with an uppercut. Blackbeard The Pirate is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jones tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Jones scoring well with a low kick there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Blackbeard The Pirate dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
The Pirate lands with an uppercut that bounces Jones off the cage and back into range. The Pirate checks a leg kick. Jones checks the leg kick. The Pirate wants to clinch up but Jones keeps it at a distance. The Pirate lands a lovely overhand right. The Pirate feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Joness jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. The Pirate manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. The Pirate throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it. The Pirate throws a body punch but Jones moves out of range. The Pirate throws a hook but Jones blocks it. The Pirate lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. The Pirate tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance. The Pirate throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jones. An inside leg kick from The Pirate misses. The Pirate connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Jones momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones scores with a jab to the body. Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Pirate's waist but The Pirate gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side. The Pirate throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. The Pirate thows a body kick. Jones tries to catch it but that hurt him. The Pirate blocks a leg kick. Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The Pirate waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jones. The Pirate tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from The Pirate. A jab from The Pirate misses. The Pirate scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jones in his tracks. Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but The Pirate circles away. Blackbeard The Pirate has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fred Jones. Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but The Pirate circles away quickly and effectively. The Pirate connects with an inside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones throws the left hand but The Pirate avoids the punch easily. Jones checks a leg kick. Jones cracks a nice hook into The Pirate's ribs. Jones slips a jab from The Pirate. Blackbeard The Pirate is winning the standup battle so far. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but The Pirate swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jones wants to slow The Pirate down by chopping away at his legs. The Pirate moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jones looks to score with a jab to the body but The Pirate is just out of range. The Pirate misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The Pirate throws out a token jab with nothing on it. The Pirate is looking to clinch. The Pirate closes the distance and clinches. Jones lands an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Pirate holding his opponent close, against the cage.
The Pirate is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Jones is defending well for now. Jones working aggressively here.
The Pirate slows down the pace here.
Jones drops to a knee looking for a takedown but The Pirate gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The Pirate's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. The Pirate looking to throw knees to the head but Jones is blocking nicely.
Jones jumps guard but The Pirate stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The Pirate is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Blackbeard The Pirate. Jones throws a leg kick and The Pirate counters with a good low kick that Jones was not able to check. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. The Pirate is looking to chop away at Jones's legs. The Pirate tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. The Pirate moves into the clinch successfully.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones misses with the head strike.
Jones throws a head punch that misses. The Pirate throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Jones blocks it with crossed arms. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The Pirate crunches a lovely knee into Jones's ribcage.
And that's the end of the fight! Blackbeard The Pirate showed his dominance in that final round. I think The Pirate has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Blackbeard The Pirate! A very excited looking Blackbeard The Pirate rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
