Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Thors Hammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Earl Grey! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammer darts in looking for a takedown but Grey gets double underhooks and turns Hammer into the cage. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Hammer as Grey tries to tie him up. Come on Grey - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
I was talking to Hammer's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Grey prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hammer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Grey pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thors Hammer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Grey lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Thors Hammer has been cut. Grey's coach down at The Pit was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Grey's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Grey lands an elbow inside that Hammer shrugs off. Nice elbow from Grey. Grey lands a nice elbow. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Hammer takes an elbow to the forehead.
Thors Hammer's cut is getting worse. With the fighters up against the cage, Grey throws an elbow but misses. Grey blocking some punches.

Grey's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Grey is trying to maintain a safe position but Hammer gets an underhook and turns Grey into the cage.
