Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rayford Burdette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Vanguard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vanguard has chosen Survival-Eminem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rayford Burdette has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rayford Burdette! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ethan Vanguard! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burdette gets in close and instigates a clinch. Burdette tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Vanguard is trying to break the clinch but Burdette is controlling him. A head punch blocked on the inside by Vanguard. Burdette lands with a right to the head. Vanguard is trying to force a seperation but Burdette has the dominant position. Vanguard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Vanguard blocks a body shot from Burdette. Burdette gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Burdette is figuring out what he wants to do next. Burdette wants to free his trapped foot but Vanguard is holding on for dear life with his legs. Vanguard is looking for a sweep. Burdette is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Burdette knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vanguard on the ground. The fighters are battling for position here. Vanguard manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Burdette is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burdette's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rayford Burdette. Burdette misses with a hook
and Vanguard counters with a body kick that stops Burdette in his tracks momentarily. Vanguard dives in and grabs Burdette's left leg, looking for a takedown. Burdette pushes down on Vanguard's head and hops out. Vanguard tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Burdette counters with a nice double leg into guard. Vanguard isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Burdette stacks Vanguard on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Burdette! Burdette controlling from side mount. Burdette misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burdette is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vanguard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Vanguard is letting Burdette control him for a moment. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The ground and pound from Burdette seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Burdette is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Vanguard prevents Burdette from improving position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vanguard is trying to control Burdette's posture but Burdette avoids it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Burdette tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Burdette is staying tight to Vanguard's torso, preventing him from escaping. Burdette is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vanguard has escaped the position, nice work there. You can see the frustration on Vanguard's face as Burdette controls the position.

Rayford Burdette has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Burdette throws a series of punches but Vanguard avoids them all with ease. Vanguard fails with an attempt to clinch.
Vanguard works over Burdette's head and body with a nice combination. Vanguard gets tackled into the cage by Burdette. Burdette maintains the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Burdette is leaning against Vanguard and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A quick uppercut on the inside from Burdette. Burdette fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rayford Burdette dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Vanguard goes for a double leg but Burdette avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Burdette continues to drive forward. Burdette has a couple of punches blocked by Vanguard.
Burdette manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Burdette has his hands on Vanguard's head, controlling the position. Burdette looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Vanguard passes into side control.
Burdette is trying to improve his position. Vanguard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burdette keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Burdette's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Burdette is looking for a sweep. Burdette tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Vanguard easily slips into full mount! Burdette on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Burdette tries to get out of the position. Burdette is looking to improve his position but Vanguard isn't that keen on the idea. Vanguard trying to control but Burdette is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burdette wants to control but Vanguard is having none of it. Vanguard looking to control but Burdette is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Burdette tries to get back to half guard but can't. Burdette sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Burdette is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vanguard wants to stand up but Burdette is controlling the position.
Vanguard wants to control but Burdette is keeping him busy.
Ethan Vanguard has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Vanguard plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Vanguard tries to clinch up. Burdette closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vanguard to the mat! Vanguard manages to get full guard. Vanguard has his foot on Burdette's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burdette works his way back into a safe position though. Vanguard keeping full guard, as Burdette tries to pass. Burdette advances position into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burdette is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vanguard knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Burdette tries to advance to mount but Vanguard denies him. Vanguard is being controlled here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vanguard sneaks back into half guard. Burdette wants to pass the guard but Vanguard is defending well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vanguard is refusing to be controlled, as Burdette sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rayford Burdette dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Vanguard is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Burdette's half guard. Vanguard throwing shots but Burdette is blocking nicely. Burdette tries to roll over but Vanguard keeps him under control. Burdette desperately trying to maintain half guard. Vanguard blocks the strikes from Burdette.
Burdette is refusing to be controlled, as Vanguard sits in half guard. Burdette tries to kick Vanguard off but Vanguard keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Burdette is trying to get back to full guard. Burdette actively working from the bottom here. Burdette slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Vanguard wants to control from the top but Burdette keeps moving. Vanguard postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vanguard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vanguard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Burdette tries to land a sweep but no joy. Burdette is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Burdette tries to land a sweep but no joy. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Burdette holds on and takes a little breather.

Vanguard shoots in looking for a takedown but Burdette manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vanguard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Burdette fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vanguard manages to avoid it. Burdette misses with a double jab

That's three minutes gone in the round. Vanguard shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Burdette as he jumps to the side. Burdette ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vanguard moves away. Burdette fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Vanguard counters with a good, hard body kick but Burdette shrugs it off. Burdette is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Burdette looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Burdette stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vanguard swivels though and keeps the full guard. Burdette is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Rayford Burdette overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vanguard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Burdette stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vanguard swivels though and keeps the full guard. Burdette trying to control but Vanguard is working from the bottom.
We're going to have a standup here because Rayford Burdette wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Burdette falls off balance throwing a combination
and Vanguard connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Vanguard tries to keep at a distance but Burdette has taken the fight into the clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Burdette throws a punch but it's blocked by Vanguard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Burdette pulls Vanguard into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Burdette working a defensive guard but Vanguard manages to pass into side control anyway.
Ethan Vanguard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Burdette trying his best to control but Vanguard has mounted him.
And that's the end of the fight! Rayford Burdette showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burdette, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
