PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brad Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goatboys Child (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Child comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bill Hicks - Goatboy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brad Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Goatboys Child!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Bart Greer and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Child has taken the fight to the clinch.

Child breaks from the clinch.
Child tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shaw swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Child closes the distance looking to clinch

and Shaw counters with a nice double leg into side control. Child won't be happy with that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Shaw wants to control but Child is keeping him busy.
Shaw controlling from side mount.
Child trying his best to control but Shaw has mounted him.
Shaw prevents Child from getting the reversal.
Child sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Child gets back to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shaw trying to control the position from guard on top but Child is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shaw slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Shaw wants to lay and pray for a moment but Child keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shaw tries to move to mount but Child blocks the move with his legs.
Child trying to control but Shaw flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Shaw somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.
Shaw has the hooks in. Child is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Child tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Child is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Shaw throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Child keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Child wants to control but Shaw is having none of it.
The referee warns Child that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Child sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Child wants to control but Shaw is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Shaw is trying to control. Child wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Shaw is looking for a kimura but Child is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shaw to get the leverage.
Shaw is keen to just control but Child is a slippery customer.

Shaw is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Child is trying to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Child slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Child looking for a guillotine here but Shaw defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brad Shaw will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Child drives through with a takedown into guard.
Shaw lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Child!

Shaw is working for a guillotine from mount but Child frees his head quite easily.

Shaw goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Child is on top in guard.

Shaw is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Child looking to sit in guard and control but Shaw gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Child keeping full guard, as Shaw tries to pass.

Child keeping moving, preventing Shaw from controlling successfully.
Shaw pushes down on Child's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Shaw is pushing down on Child's leg trying to pass to half guard. Child is fighting to maintain full guard but Shaw has managed to sneak the leg through.

Still in half guard, Shaw seems content to control.
Shaw thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Shaw wants to control but Child is keeping him busy.
Child has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Shaw passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Child!

Shaw can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Child is looking to escape.
Shaw throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Child because Shaw loaded up on that one.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Child gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Shaw dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Child gets a double leg takedown into Shaw's guard.

Shaw is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shaw has an active guard here but Child has managed to pass into half guard.

Child is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shaw sees it coming and defends easily.

Child is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shaw doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Child.
Shaw is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Child's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Child's back!

A bit of a pause in the action here. Shaw controlling the positon.

Shaw doesn't have the hooks in and Child manages to turn into his guard.

Child got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shaw has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Child has managed to get both his arms back between Shaw's legs - danger averted.
Child should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Shaw manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Child manages to get himself to full guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shaw, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Brad Shaw wins by unanimous decision!

Brad Shaw tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
Goatboys Child spoke after the fight, saying 'Goatboy was here to please you!'.
