The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas tries to clinch there but Cartwright circles away.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Thomas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cartwright can't do much from the bottom here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cartwright manages to work his way to half guard, despite Thomas's best efforts.

Cartwright is refusing to be controlled, as Thomas sits in half guard.
Cartwright has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Thomas. Oh but Cartwright has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Thomas goes limp - he's gone! Cartwright jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
