Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Doug DeSouza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dario Conca! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conca looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? DeSouza is fending him off so far but Conca persists. Nope, DeSouza circles away and we're back to standing. DeSouza wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Conca drops his hands momentarily and DeSouza takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. DeSouza gets a takedown into half guard. Conca wants to improve his position but DeSouza is controlling well.
Conca won't allow DeSouza to pass to mount. Conca has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, DeSouza escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by DeSouza! DeSouza wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Conca, who protects the arm well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conca is positioning himself to get back to half guard. DeSouza takes a little break here. Conca wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Conca looking for a sweep but DeSouza has passed into full mount! Oh no! DeSouza controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. DeSouza can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Conca is looking to escape. DeSouza prevents Conca from getting the reversal. DeSouza looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Conca is squirming around, avoiding DeSouza's attempts to control the action. DeSouza controlling the position easily from mount. Conca keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. DeSouza can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Conca is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Conca bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! DeSouza looking for a sweep. Not yet DeSouza, not yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Doug DeSouza dominated that round. That's time! DeSouza's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
DeSouza closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Conca trying his best to control but DeSouza has mounted him. DeSouza takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Conca tries to get back to half guard but can't. DeSouza trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Doug DeSouza just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Conca moves out of range as DeSouza strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conca on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Conca with a poor takedown and DeSouza counters with a one-two to the body. Conca tries for a takedown but DeSouza circles away easily and DeSouza counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Conca is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. DeSouza is nestled in close to Conca, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Conca controlling the position well. Conca looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Conca missing with punches from the bottom.
Conca is pressing down on DeSouza's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. DeSouza sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Conca's guard. DeSouza performing his best blanket impression for a moment. DeSouza looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
DeSouza content to control rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. DeSouza moves into full mount! Conca won't be happy about that! Conca is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Conca fending off the submission attempt from DeSouza. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. DeSouza has good solid back control here. DeSouza keeps control of the position as Conca tries to break free.
DeSouza gets his hands free as Conca looks to control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. DeSouza keeps control of the position as Conca tries to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Doug DeSouza dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Conca misses with a takedown attempt and DeSouza counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Conca! DeSouza controlling the pace for now. Conca is trying to escape the mount.
Conca tries to control DeSouza's body but DeSouza pushes him off. Conca squirms to his side and now DeSouza has his back! Conca breaks DeSouza's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. DeSouza lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Conca! Conca is looking to get to half guard. DeSouza controlling the pace for now. DeSouza trying to control but he's not successful this time. Conca tries to reverse the position but DeSouza maintains control.

DeSouza doesn't have the hooks in and Conca manages to turn into his guard.

DeSouza is really struggling to control Conca but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. DeSouza lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
It looks like Dario Conca has been cut. Dario Conca seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. DeSouza lands a jab to the head.
Conca misses with a takedown attempt and DeSouza counters with a nice double leg into side control. Conca won't be happy with that. DeSouza tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. DeSouza tries to move into full mount but can't pass Conca's legs. DeSouza slows the pace down. Conca is trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Conca regains half guard. Conca wants to control but DeSouza is keeping busy and won't allow it. Still in half guard, DeSouza seems content to control. Conca tries to roll over but DeSouza keeps him under control. DeSouza wants to take a breather but Conca is having none of it. Conca is trying to maintain the position but DeSouza is very close to passing his half guard. Conca is not content to let DeSouza control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Doug DeSouza showed his dominance in that final round. Well DeSouza has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
