Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Basil Helmers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ariel Piechocki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Helmers comes to the ring accompanied by Sorrow - Last cry. The crowd seem to be enjoying Piechocki's choice of entrance music: Thunder . Ariel Piechocki will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Basil Helmers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ariel Piechocki! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Piechocki misses with a double jab.
Piechocki thows a body kick. Helmers tries to catch it but that hurt him. Piechocki lands a high kick!
It looks like Basil Helmers has been cut. Piechocki throws a head kick but Helmers moves out of range.
Piechocki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Helmers seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Helmers avoids the head kick by Piechocki.
Piechocki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Helmers moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Helmers throws the left hand but Piechocki avoids the punch easily. Helmers feints and as Piechocki raises his hands in defense, Helmers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Helmers throwing strikes from guard but Piechocki blocks nicely. Helmers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Piechocki trying to keep a closed guard but Helmers is proving a slippery customer.

Helmers works over Piechocki with some ground and pound from guard. Helmers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Piechocki being controlled here, momentarily. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Helmers wants to control from the top but Piechocki keeps moving. Helmers postures up in Piechocki's guard and throws a big left but Piechocki blocks it. Helmers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Helmers wants to pass the guard but Piechocki is keeping the position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Helmers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Helmers scoring with punches to the head and body. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Helmers lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Helmers's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Helmers throws a big elbow that misses. Helmers keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Piechocki's head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Helmers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Piechocki wants to sweep but no luck. Helmers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Helmers sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Piechocki's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Piechocki avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Helmers. Helmers is controlling the pace.
Helmers is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Piechocki is just riding it out for now. Helmers eventually gives up the hold. Helmers uses his free foot to push down on Piechocki's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Piechocki. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Piechocki displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Helmers swings for the body but Piechocki moves out of range.
Helmers bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Helmers swings around for an armbar but Piechocki sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Helmers's guard. Piechocki wants to control from the top but Helmers keeps moving. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Helmers has Piechocki pulled in close to control his posture. Helmers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Helmers tries to get out of the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ariel Piechocki. Piechocki digs a good hook to Helmers's body.
Helmers scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Helmers thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Well, if Helmers is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Piechocki is trying to stand up here but Helmers is controlling him well. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Helmers lands a nice short elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Helmers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Basil Helmers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Helmers thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Piechocki's head. Helmers trying to mount his opponent but Piechocki defends it. Helmers sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Piechocki defending well though. Helmers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Piechocki blocking the ground and pound attempt from Helmers. Helmers trying to advance position but Piechocki counters by regaining guard. Helmers trying to control but Piechocki is working from the bottom. Piechocki has momentary wrist control but Helmers slips an elbow through the middle.

Helmers advances position into side control! Helmers misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Piechocki dodges the ground and pound from Helmers. Helmers trying to control the action but Piechocki is working from the bottom. Piechocki regains half guard, as Helmers was trying to land strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Helmers landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Piechocki regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Helmers. Helmers wants to pass the guard but Piechocki is keeping the position. Helmers cracks Piechocki with a solid left hand. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Helmers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Piechocki scores with a jab. Helmers acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Piechocki gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Helmers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Helmers throwing strikes but missing. Helmers is looking to work some ground and pound but Piechocki has wrist control. Helmers pushes down on Piechocki's leg and manages to get into half guard. Helmers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Piechocki keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Piechocki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Helmers's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Helmers's back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Helmers is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Helmers trying to control the hands but Piechocki won't let him. Piechocki wants to control but Helmers is keeping busy. Helmers tries to roll but Piechocki sticks to his back.
Piechocki doesn't have the hooks in and Helmers manages to turn into his guard.

Helmers wants to pass the guard but Piechocki is keeping the position. Helmers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Helmers trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Helmers lands a couple of elbows. Helmers wants to control from the top but Piechocki keeps moving. Helmers throwing strikes but missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Helmers is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Helmers trying to control the position from guard on top but Piechocki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Helmers with a flurry of punches that miss. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Piechocki wants to stand and escape but Helmers is having none of it. Ariel Piechocki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Helmers landing with the ground and pound.
And that's the end of the fight! Basil Helmers showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Helmers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
