PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benjo Alejandro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Lucas Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Travis Lucas Jr was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Benjo Alejandro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Travis Lucas Jr!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas Jr throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Benjo Alejandro has been cut.
Lucas Jr is looking to slow Alejandro down with leg kicks.
Alejandro avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Alejandro throws out a loose jab but Lucas Jr uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lucas Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Nice sprawl there from Lucas Jr as Alejandro shoots in.
Lucas Jr misses with a body kick.
Lucas Jr lands with a thumping leg kick.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Alejandro shoots for a double leg takedown but Lucas Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Alejandro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Horrible takedown by Alejandro or perhaps it was just good defense by Lucas Jr which made him look bad.

Alejandro lands a glancing blow to the side of Lucas Jr's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alejandro goes for a double leg but Lucas Jr avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lucas Jr continues to drive forward.
Alejandro is looking to take this one to the mat.

Lucas Jr's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Lucas Jr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Travis Lucas Jr wasn't active enough on the ground.

Alejandro throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lucas Jr's waist but Lucas Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alejandro off to one side.

Lucas Jr lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Alejandro takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Alejandro is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lucas Jr.
Alejandro tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lucas Jr swivels and escapes.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Lucas Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Alejandro content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Alejandro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lucas Jr works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lucas Jr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Alejandro manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Alejandro is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Travis Lucas Jr dominated that round.

That's time! Alejandro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Alejandro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lucas Jr pinned against the cage. Lucas Jr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lucas Jr lands a big head kick that sends Alejandro tumbling to the mat! Lucas Jr takes a step backwards and waves Alejandro back to his feet - he wants the finish!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alejandro on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Alejandro wants to stay close but Lucas Jr steps back to make room for something. Alejandro seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Lucas Jr and Alejandro drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Travis Lucas Jr!
After the fight, Travis Lucas Jr was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
