PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Blue Belt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Winston Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Blue Belt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Winston Cole!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Belt tries to clinch but Cole moves out of range.

Belt shoots in and gets a takedown into Cole's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cole working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Belt.
Cole keeping full guard, as Belt tries to pass.
Belt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Belt drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cole dives on top into guard.
Belt seems keen to control Cole's posture.
Belt wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Belt is working hard here to advance position.
Belt is controlling Cole's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Blue Belt wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Belt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Cole is pushing Belt's head away, looking to escape. Belt manages to hold on to the position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cole managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Belt.
Belt throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Belt is trying to ground and pound but Cole uses the momentary lack of control by Belt to regain half guard.

Belt is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cole is just riding it out for now. Belt eventually gives up the hold.
Belt tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cole knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Belt is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cole keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Belt not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Belt passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cole!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Belt sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Belt throws a strike there. Cole manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
Belt passes the guard and advances to mount!

Belt looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Blue Belt dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A slapping leg kick lands for Cole.
Belt looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Belt.

Belt has Cole up against the cage in a clinch.
Cole looking to throw knees to the head but Belt is blocking nicely.
Cole wants to stall.
Cole lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Belt tries to pull guard but Cole holds him up against the cage and eventually Belt drops back down to his feet.
Belt changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cole fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blue Belt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cole throws a body kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A low kick from Cole misses

and Belt counters by moving into the clinch.

Cole breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Belt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Belt shoots in for a takedown but Cole shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Belt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cole is fending him off so far but Belt persists. Nope, Cole circles away and we're back to standing.
Winston Cole is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cole listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Cole lands a big head kick that sends Belt tumbling to the mat! Cole takes a step backwards and waves Belt back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cole seems to be stalking Belt here. He circles momentarily and then unleashes a devastatic head kick! Belt drops like a stone, out cold! WOW! Are you kidding me!? What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Winston Cole!
