Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Riseman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vern Shillinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonathan Riseman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vern Shillinger! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shillinger looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Shillinger wants to stand up but Riseman is controlling the position.
Riseman keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Riseman trying to control but Shillinger postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shillinger stands up from Riseman's guard - Shillinger perhaps looking for a knockout. Riseman looks to land a combination but Shillinger avoids it well. Riseman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Shillinger is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Shillinger has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Riseman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riseman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Riseman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shillinger swivels though and keeps the full guard. Riseman wants to control from the top but Shillinger keeps moving. Shillinger looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Riseman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shillinger keeping moving, preventing Riseman from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Riseman stops Shillinger from standing up. Riseman trying to control the position from guard on top but Shillinger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Riseman is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Shillinger is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Riseman scores with a takedown into Shillinger's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riseman controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Riseman trying to control the position from guard on top but Shillinger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shillinger working for a triangle but Riseman defends it easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shillinger is on top in guard.
Shillinger wants to stand but Riseman is controlling his posture from full guard. Shillinger looks gassed! Shillinger is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Riseman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shillinger's guard. Shillinger has an active guard here but Riseman has managed to pass into half guard.
Shillinger wants to get back to his feet.
Riseman wants to work for an arm triangle but Shillinger is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Riseman performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Riseman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Shillinger for as long as he can get away with.

Riseman tries to pass to full mount but Shillinger defends it. Riseman passes to full mount! Riseman looking to control but Shillinger is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. That was a close round but I would say that Jonathan Riseman will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Shillinger gets caught flat footed, as Riseman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Riseman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Shillinger looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shillinger tries to land a sweep but no joy. Riseman trying to control but Shillinger is working from the bottom. Riseman won't allow Shillinger to sweep him here. Riseman is pushing down on Shillinger's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shillinger is fighting to maintain full guard but Riseman has managed to sneak the leg through. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Riseman in particular looking to stall. Shillinger punching from the bottom.

Shillinger has clasped his hands together around Riseman's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Riseman gets back to half guard. Riseman wants to get back to full guard. Riseman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shillinger is working away from the top position though. Shillinger tries to pass the half guard into mount. Riseman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Riseman trying to control but Shillinger postures up.

Riseman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shillinger as he jumps to the side. Shillinger has a takedown stuffed. Riseman drives through with a takedown into guard. Shillinger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Shillinger is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Riseman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shillinger. Riseman wants to control but Shillinger is keeping busy.

He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Riseman reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Riseman taps out! nice BJJ there by Shillinger!
