Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Dzhumagaliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Whisper Welker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikolai Dzhumagaliev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welker is nestled in close to Dzhumagaliev, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Welker is trying to control the action in half guard but Dzhumagaliev is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Welker seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Welker is stalling here. Dzhumagaliev is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Welker seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Dzhumagaliev has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dzhumagaliev decides to stand up, so the ref orders Welker to his feet.

Dzhumagaliev lands a big uppercut and Welker crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Welker looks OK. Dzhumagaliev waves Welker back to his feet!
