Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, ryan prevost!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raket Pulver!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulver tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but prevost swivels and escapes.

and Pulver decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in prevost's guard.

prevost looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Pulver postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! prevost is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pulver, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pulver has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but prevost can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

You can see the frustration on Pulver's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pulver is trying to control prevost's posture but prevost avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

prevost lands a big shot there that rocks Pulver but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Pulver takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
prevost prevents Pulver from getting the reversal.

Pulver is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pulver is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Pulver tries to reverse the position but prevost maintains control.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Pulver gets caught flat footed, as prevost shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Pulver has his foot on prevost's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. prevost works his way back into a safe position though.

prevost drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and prevost jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
prevost really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pulver throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! prevost escapes and throws Pulver's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Pulver takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Pulver parries the strikes from prevost easily there. prevost is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pulver to escape.

Pulver takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
prevost looks up at the clock and then as Pulver takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, prevost smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

prevost tries to pass the half guard into mount. Pulver knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Pulver working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. prevost doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. prevost manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

prevost has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
