Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Danny Barns! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Drunken Hermit! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hermit doesn't succeed with the takedown and Barns counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Hermit is trying to get back to full guard. Barns throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Still in half guard, Barns seems content to control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barns wants to pass the guard but Hermit is defending well. Hermit is staying active underneath Barns, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Barns throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Hermit avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Barns. Hermit is holding on to half guard well.

Barns lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hermit hang on? Hermit in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barns connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Hermit shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Barns counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Barns misses with a straight left. Hermit will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Barns darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Barns throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hermit stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Hermit feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Barns controlling the position. Hermit throws an elbow that misses. Barns uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hermit's guard. Nice move by Barns! Barns postures up.
Hermit being controlled here, momentarily. We've been hearing that Barns has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Barns passes easily into side control. Nice work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barns is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hermit is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Barns throwing strikes but Hermit manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Barns is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Hermit's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Barns regains full guard. Nicely done. Barns managing to control the position. Hermit with a flurry of punches that miss.

He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barns is taking a breather. Hermit says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hermit wants to get back to full guard. Barns missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Barns lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Barns thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Barns is trying to control. Hermit wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hermit is defending against the submission attempts here by Barns.

Drunken Hermit has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Well, if Barns is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Barns's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Danny Barns wins by unanimous decision! After the fight, Danny Barns was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
