0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mateus Mettler! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mettler moves in looking to clinch but Buckmaster pushes him off. Mettler fails with the takedown and Buckmaster counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Mettler is looking to clinch but Buckmaster is avoiding it.
Mettler tries to clinch up. Mettler tries to clinch there but Buckmaster circles away.
Mettler with a lazy takedown attempt so Buckmaster counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Buckmaster wants to pass the guard but Mettler is keeping the position. Mettler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Buckmaster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Buckmaster works a leg free and moves into half guard. Buckmaster passes the guard and advances to mount! Mettler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buckmaster working the ground and pound effectively.
Buckmaster working for a guillotine from mount but Mettler is in no mood to give up. Buckmaster scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Buckmaster has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Mettler is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Buck Buckmaster! After the fight, Buck Buckmaster was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
