PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edmond Heath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamlong Paktai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jamlong Paktai will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edmond Heath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamlong Paktai!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heath closes the distance and clinches up with Paktai, looking for a takedown. Heath pushes Paktai against the cage but Paktai circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Heath on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Paktai. Paktai obviously looking to wear him down.
A head kick misses from Paktai.
Paktai throws a head kick that misses.
Paktai swinging wildly here.
Paktai misses with a head kick.
Heath stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Paktai.
Paktai fails in his attempt to clinch.
Heath circles away from the clinch attempt

and Heath counters by moving into the clinch.
Heath tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Paktai avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Paktai blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The referee calls for Paktai to work.
Heath working aggressively here.
Paktai is trying to break free.
Paktai is trying to break the clinch but Heath is controlling him.
Paktai wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Paktai pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Paktai throws a nice head kick!
Paktai swings widly with a right hand

and Heath counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Heath.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Paktai is looking to stand up but Heath isn't so interested in that idea.
Heath throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paktai being controlled here, momentarily.
Heath postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heath's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Edmond Heath just wasn't active enough.
Heath takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Heath sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Heath chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Paktai can pounce on him.
Paktai throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Paktai misses with a double jab.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paktai connects with an inside leg kick.
Paktai misses with a hook. Heath ducked under it nicely.
Heath takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Heath changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paktai tries to avoid it but Heath manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paktai to the ground. Paktai escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Paktai just misses with a punch to the body.

Heath tries to keep at a distance but Paktai has taken the fight into the clinch.
Paktai blocks an elbow strike from Heath.
Heath misses with some punches.
Paktai throws a head punch that misses.
Paktai with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Edmond Heath has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Heath lands an uppercut.
Heath keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Paktai's efforts to push away.
Paktai wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Heath blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Paktai working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Heath throws a punch but it's blocked by Paktai.
Heath blocks a body shot from Paktai.
Paktai trying to control the position but instead, Heath has worked for underhooks and has pushed Paktai into the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Heath stalling against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamlong Paktai dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Edmond Heath's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Paktai throws a head kick that Heath semi-blocks.
Paktai will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Paktai pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Paktai lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Paktai keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.


Heath is rocked!

Paktai instigates a clinch.
Oh Heath is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Paktai scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Heath pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Stalling in the clinch from Heath.
Paktai unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Heath just leaning against Paktai, taking a breather.
Paktai throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Heaths head.

Paktai breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Look low, kick high! Paktai uses the oldest trick in the book to send Heath tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Paktai is absolutely delighted - when Heath wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jamlong Paktai!
