Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Alvarez Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Nitschke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Banner comes to the cage accompanied by Raining Blood by Slayer. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Alvarez Banner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Damian Nitschke! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nitschke with a lazy takedown attempt letting Banner counter with a right hand. Nitschke fails with the takedown and Banner moves into the clinch. Banner wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nitschke blocks a body shot from Banner. Banner is trying to break the clinch but Nitschke has him pressed against the cage. Banner is trying to push Nitschke away but Nitschke has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Nitschke drops down looking for an ankle pick but Banner pulls his leg out and moves away.
Bruce Alvarez Banner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Nitschke. Nitschke misses with a low kick as Banner jumps back. Banner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nitschke paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nitschke shoots in but Banner avoids the takedown attempt easily. Nitschke has his takedown stuffed and Banner counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Banner scores with a jab. Banner shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Nitschke is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nitschke is looking to control Banner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nitschke avoid being mounted? Banner not landing any meaningful shots this time. Banner tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nitschke knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Banner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nitschke's head. Nitschke looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Banner working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Nitschke's thigh. Nitschke counters though and makes it back to full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Banner tries to free his leg and advance position but Nitschke is retaining full guard. Nitschke working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Banner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Banner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Banner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nitschke controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nitschke keeping full guard, as Banner tries to pass. Nitschke escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Banner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Banner looking to pass the guard. Banner won't allow Nitschke to sweep him here. Banner throws a big elbow that misses. Banner with a nice head shot there. Banner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nitschke swivels though and keeps the full guard. Nitschke has his hands on Banner's head, controlling the position. Banner works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Banner tries to pass to full mount but Nitschke defends it. Banner is working for a kimura but Nitschke is defending it quite comfortably.

Banner working the head and body with strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nitschke has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Banner is working away from the top position though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Banner is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Nitschke wants to control but Banner is keeping busy and won't allow it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bruce Alvarez Banner dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Banner dives in and scores a takedown into Nitschke's guard. Nitschke is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Banner is aware though and is defending well. Banner with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Banner lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nitschke is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Banner working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Banner working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Nitschke's head. Banner passes easily into side control. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nitschke is looking for a sweep. Nitschke struggling a bit here. Nitschke might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banner haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Banner in side control lands a decent elbow. Banner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nitschke knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Nitschke manages to get back to half guard. Nitschke looking for submissions off his back. Nitschke trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Banner passes to side control. Banner cracks Nitschke with a big elbow. Banner throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nitschke manages to get back to half guard. Banner is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Nitschke! Nitschke tries to hold on but Banner postures up. Banner lands a couple of good shots and Nitschke has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Even with his hooks in, Banner manages to miss with strikes from the back. Banner is not going to allow Nitschke to sit and survive in this position. Nitschke is trapped and Banner is scoring with shots to the head and body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Banner cracks Nitschke with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Nitschke from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Nitschke grimaces as he takes a shot to the body. Nitschke manages to reverse the position and now he's in Banner's guard. Nice work there by Nitschke.

Bruce Alvarez Banner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nitschke lands a couple of digs. Nitschke throwing strikes from guard but Banner blocks nicely. Banner looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Nitschke throws an elbow that misses. Banner uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nitschke's guard. Nice move by Banner! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nitschke looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Nitschke looks for a takedown but Banner sprawls well. Bruce Alvarez Banner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Banner slaps away a takedown attempt from Nitschke, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nitschke tries for a takedown but Banner circles away easily and Banner counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Bruce Alvarez Banner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Nitschke. Nitschke moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Banner closes the distance and pushes Nitschke back into the cage. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Nitschke. Banner blocks a body shot from Nitschke. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Banner goes for a takedown in the clinch but Nitschke prevents it.
Banner lands a left hand that snaps the head of Nitschke backwards. A short uppercut from Banner. Banner successfully pulls guard.
Banner wants to sweep here but Nitschke controlling him for the moment. Banner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Banner prevents Nitschke from getting the reversal. Banner has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Nitschke's face.
Nitschke is desperately trying to improve his position but Banner has a good base and remains in mount. Banner raining down shots from the mount! Nitschke tries to improve his position but Banner has taken his back! Banner has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Nitschke tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Banner pushes Nitschke away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
