Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wes Welker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perrin Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Dog The Nine. Perrin Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wes Welker! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Perrin Jones! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Welker circles away. Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Welker as he jumps to the side. Wes Welker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Perrin Jones. Welker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Jones tries to reverse the position but Welker maintains control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Welker has control of Jones's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jones regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jones is trying desperately to improve position. Welker working for a submission but Jones is keeping him at bay. Welker wants to control the pace but Jones is squirming around nicely. Jones is desperately trying to improve his position but Welker has a good base and remains in mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Welker jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jones manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Welker has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Jones tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Welker has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones regains guard immediately. Welker passes Jones's left leg - he's now in half guard. Jones looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Jones looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Jones looks gassed! Welker moves into full mount! Jones won't be happy about that!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Welker looking to finish Jones with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jones! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Jones is in all sorts of trouble here.
Jones is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Welker locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Jones is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wes Welker! Wes Welker retains his middleweight title!
