PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Delmer Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Pratley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pratley has chosen Pusherman by Curtis Mayfield as his entrance music. Robin Pratley will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pratley misses with a takedown attempt

and Reeves counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pratley won't be happy with that.
Who's going to make the next move?
Pratley is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Pratley parries the strikes from Reeves easily there. Reeves is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pratley to escape.
Pratley should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Pratley is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Reeves has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Reeves creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Pratley sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Reeves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
You can see the frustration on Pratley's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Pratley tries to bench press Reeves off him but Reeves keeps the position.

Reeves seems to be working for a kimura but Pratley defends the submission attempt.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reeves is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pratley is just riding it out for now. Reeves eventually gives up the hold.

Reeves seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Reeves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pratley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pratley shoots in for a takedown but Reeves shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Delmer Reeves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pratley.
Pratley shoots in for a double leg but Reeves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Pratley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reeves was well out of range. Poor timing from Pratley.
Pratley throws a sloppy head kick and Reeves moves out of range easily.
Reeves shoots in looking for a takedown. Pratley tries to sprawl out of it but Reeves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pratley manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Pratley is trying to drag Reeves to the mat but Reeves just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Pratley tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Reeves just stands there and leans against the cage.

Pratley throws an elbow that misses. Reeves uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Pratley's guard. Nice move by Reeves!

Reeves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Reeves is fighting to break Pratley's control of his arms but Pratley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pratley wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Pratley goes for a double leg but Reeves avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reeves continues to drive forward.
