Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Skantze Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has chosen Raiders March as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Skantze Jr! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Henry Jones! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skantze Jr misses with a body shot.
Skantze Jr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Skantze Jr dives on top into guard. Skantze Jr looking to pass the guard. Skantze Jr preventing the sweep. Skantze Jr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top! Jones scoring with punches to the head and body. Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones gets to his feet - Skantze Jr follows without any prompting. Skantze Jr on the wrong end of a nice hook. Skantze Jr lands a nice hook to Jones's body. Jones takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Skantze Jr uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jones. Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Skantze Jr.
Skantze Jr misses the shot to the body. Skantze Jr shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Skantze Jr has escaped the position, nice work there. Jones is putting a hurting on Skantze Jr here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skantze Jr is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones stands up. Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Skantze Jr jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jones walks away with a smile on his face. Skantze Jr gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Jones dips to his left and cracks Skantze Jr with an uppercut! Jones slips a jab and a cross from Skantze Jr.
Skantze Jr throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Jones on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Jones clinches with his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skantze Jr is trying to pull guard but Jones has him pressed against the cage. Skantze Jr jumps guard but Jones turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Skantze Jr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Skantze Jr misses with a hook from the clinch. Skantze Jr jumps guard but Jones stands there with Skantze Jr around his waist. Skantze Jr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jones's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jones thuds his right hand into Skantze Jr's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Skantze Jr tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Skantze Jr lands a glancing blow to the side of Jones's head. Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into Skantze Jr's guard. Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jones is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones lands a couple of elbows. Jones postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Skantze Jr. Excellent takedown into side control there by Jones. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Henry Jones dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Skantze Jr blocks a jab. We've been informed that Jones has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Skantze Jr throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones goes for a high kick. It partially lands. We've been told by Skantze Jr's head coaches at Grappling Pro Helsinki that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Skantze Jr throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Skantze Jr digs a good hook to Jones's body.
Skantze Jr throws an overhand right that lands on Jones's shoulder, as Jones tries to avoid the shot. The fighters circling - Jones throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Skantze Jr quickly recovers to half guard. Jones is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Skantze Jr has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though. Skantze Jr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skantze Jr avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jones. Jones is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Skantze Jr is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily. Skantze Jr is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Skantze Jr actively working from the bottom here. Skantze Jr has hold of Jones's hands but Jones slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Skantze Jr is doing well to control the position and prevent Jones from advancing to side control. Skantze Jr wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it. Skantze Jr is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Jones is tapping! Great win for Skantze Jr!
