Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shark Attack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermain Leaseau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jermain Leaseau has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Shark Attack's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Shark Attack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jermain Leaseau!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Attack throws a low kick but Leaseau moves out of range easily.
Attack throws the left hand but Leaseau avoids the punch easily.
Leaseau dives in and grabs Attack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Attack pushes down on Leaseau's head and hops out.
Leaseau tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Leaseau staying out of range there.
Leaseau throws a head kick but Attack moves out of range.
Leaseau wants to clinch but Attack slips to the side
and Attack counters with a three punch combo that has Leaseau backing up. Leaseau nods at Attack to acknowledge the strikes.

Leaseau fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Leaseau has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Leaseau shoots for a takedown but Attack saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Shark Attack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jermain Leaseau.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Leaseau changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Attack tries to avoid it but Leaseau manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Attack to the ground. Attack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've been hearing reports that Attack has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Leaseau closes this distance looking for a takedown but Attack circles away.

It looks like Jermain Leaseau has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Attack throws a jab when Leaseau was well out of range.
Leaseau on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Attack. Attack obviously looking to wear him down.
Leaseau closes the distance and clinches up with Attack, looking for a takedown. Leaseau pushes Attack against the cage but Attack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Leaseau is trying desperately to land a takedown but Attack is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Leaseau.

Attack scores with the left hand. Leaseau knows he should have avoided that one.
Attack throws a nice outside leg kick.
Leaseau takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
No joy there for Attack, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Attack misses with a wild body shot.
Leaseau looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Attack is fending him off so far but Leaseau persists. Nope, Attack circles away and we're back to standing.
Attack moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Leaseau is looking to clinch but Attack is avoiding it.
Attack misses with a low kick.
Attack throws a leg kick which misses Leaseau's front leg but catches the back leg as Leaseau tries to avoid it.

Shark Attack is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Leaseau counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Shark Attack has been cut.
Leaseau shoots in looking for a takedown but Attack manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Leaseau's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Leaseau shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Attack is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Leaseau sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Leaseau has Attack pressed against the cage, preventing Attack from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Leaseau keeps control of Attack as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Attack thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Attack prevents Leaseau from standing back up.
Leaseau seems to have recovered his senses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Leaseau is looking for a triangle but Attack pushes his legs off easily.
Attack stands up over Leaseau, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Attack throws an elbow that misses. Leaseau uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Attack's guard. Nice move by Leaseau!
Attack wants to stand and escape but Leaseau is having none of it.
Leaseau seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Leaseau passes Attack's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Leaseau takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jermain Leaseau was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Attack pushes Leaseau away with a front kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Attack throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Leaseau fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Leaseau goes for a double leg but Attack avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Attack continues to drive forward.

Leaseau jumps guard but Attack stands there with Leaseau around his waist. Leaseau gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Leaseau takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Attack has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Attack is trying to break the clinch but Leaseau is controlling him.

Leaseau drags the fight down to the ground.

Attack knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leaseau on the ground.

Leaseau is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Leaseau lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Attack!

Attack is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Leaseau swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Attack is now in Leaseau's guard. A big mistake from Leaseau there, giving up the dominant position!
Attack working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Leaseau controls Attack momentarily but Attack frees himself.
Attack throws an elbow that misses. Leaseau uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Attack's guard. Nice move by Leaseau!

Leaseau controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jermain Leaseau was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Attack throws a shot from downtown. Leaseau moves away and avoids it.
Leaseau darts in looking for a takedown but Attack gets double underhooks and turns Leaseau into the cage.
Leaseau keeps control of Attack as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Attack breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shark Attack.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Attack, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
