PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hachiro Matsui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joseph kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is TEARS FOR FEARS - SHOUT. Matsui has chosen Solvent by Skinny Puppy as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Joseph!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hachiro Matsui!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joseph misses with a low kick.
Joseph shoots in but no luck this time.

Joseph fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Matsui sprawls well initially but Joseph persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Joseph is trying to control the action in half guard but Matsui is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Joseph is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Matsui defends it well.
Matsui tries to get to full guard but Joseph has control of the leg.
Joseph is looking to advance position but Matsui won't allow it.
Matsui tries to roll over but Joseph keeps him under control.
Joseph content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Joseph lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Matsui circles away quickly and effectively.

Matsui is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Joseph is looking to improve his position but Matsui isn't that keen on the idea.
Matsui throwing strikes here but Joseph is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Matsui is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Joseph to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Joseph shrugs it off.
Matsui prevents Joseph from getting the reversal.
William Joseph is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Joseph slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Matsui looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

I think Joseph has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A relieved looking William Joseph thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
