Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Nelson Country! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nils Master! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Master is looking to clinch but Country is avoiding it.
Country will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Master misses with a body shot.
Country shoots in for a takedown but Master shows good takedown defense. Master misses with a straight right. Master moves into the clinch. Country works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Master is trying to control the position but Country postures up. Country throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Our spies down at at Xtreme Fight Club (easily best in Amsterdam) inform us that Master has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? That's one minute gone in the round. Country being controlled here momentarily. Country is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Master is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Master has escaped and now he's on top! Master distracts Country with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Master trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Country had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Master defends it easily. Country bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Master's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Country stands and throws Master's legs to the side, diving into side control. Country working the strikes but Master uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Country throws a strike but Master avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Master utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Master trying to control the position here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Country looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Master pulls Country in close to his closed guard and prevents Country from doing any damage or advancing position. Master utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Country trying to control the position from guard on top but Master is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Country is looking to work some ground and pound but Master has wrist control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Master wants to sweep but no luck. Country trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Master manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Country trying to control the position.
Country looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Country isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Master stacks Country on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Master! Master working away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Country is positioning himself to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nelson Country dominated that round. That's time! Country's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Country fails in his attempt to clinch. Master thumps Country with a low kick. Country shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Master as he jumps to the side. We've been told by Country's head coaches at SWF GYM - JUDO 'n' MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Country looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Master is fending him off so far but Country persists. Nope, Master circles away and we're back to standing. Master connects with an inside leg kick. Master dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Country. That did some damage! Master throws a low kick but Country avoids it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Country fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nelson Country. That's going to take a lot out of him. Master throws a body punch but Country moves out of range. Country slips under a jab. Nelson Country is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crunch! Master slams his shin into Country's torso. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Master feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Country sprawling to the canvas! Country rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Master finish him?!
It looks like Nelson Country has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Master lands a monster head kick that reverborates around the arena! The crowd goes wild as Country crumples to the floor! Master milks the crowd's applause and if that isn't knockout of the night, I will be very surprised!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Nils Master! After the fight, Nils Master was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
