Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zurab Sergeev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adolf Stuka! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sergeev misses with an uppercut. Sergeev is looking to land body kicks. We've been hearing reports that Sergeev has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Sergeev shoots in for a takedown but Stuka shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Sergeev feints and as Stuka raises his hands in defense, Sergeev changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Sergeev looking to sit in guard and control but Stuka gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sergeev looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stuka is one step ahead there. Stuka trying to control but Sergeev is working from the bottom. Sergeev looking for a sweep. Not yet Sergeev, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stuka slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sergeev looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Stuka missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Sergeev moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Sergeev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stuka can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sergeev has his foot on Stuka's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stuka works his way back into a safe position though. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Stuka throws a big right hand that misses. Stuka avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stuka trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Sergeev has his feet on Stuka's thighs here. He's pushed Stuka off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Stuka screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
