Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patches Melone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Melone dives in and scores a takedown into Martin's guard.
Martin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Melone's guard.
Martin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Melone has his feet on Martin's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Melone darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Martin is not content to let Melone control the position.
Melone wants to advance to full mount but Martin doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Martin is trying to control the position but Melone postures up.
Martin throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Melone's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Martin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Martin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Martin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Patches Melone wasn't active enough on the ground.

Melone changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Melone wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martin keeps working.

Melone decides to stand back up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Martin dives in for a single leg takedown but Melone sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Melone goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Martin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Melone is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Martin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Melone has had enough of the clinch but Martin keeps him there for the moment.

Melone just misses with a punch to the body.

Melone has managed to clinch.
Melone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Martin smiles and moves away.

Martin keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Melone's efforts to push away.
Melone has a couple of punches blocked by Martin.
Martin is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Melone to keep the fight standing.

Martin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Melone avoids it.
Melone has had enough of the clinch but Martin keeps him there for the moment.
Melone stalls.

Melone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Melone shoots in looking for a takedown. Martin tries to sprawl out of it but Melone keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Martin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Martin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Melone shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Martin pinned against the cage. Martin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ricky Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patches Melone.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Melone.
Martin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Martin wants to break free but Melone has control.
Melone is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Martin is defending well for now.
Melone is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Martin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Martin gets control of Melone's arms and successfully pulls guard. Martin will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Martin lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Melone!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Melone is staying active underneath Martin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Patches Melone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Melone looks up at the clock and then as Martin takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Melone smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

A big shot lands for Melone! That's hurt Martin! Will he recover? Melone fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
