And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Merridew!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Merridew jabs Mad to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Merridew feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Mad sprawling to the canvas! Mad rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Merridew finish him?!
Oh Mad is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Merridew swings for the body but Mad moves out of range.
Merridew connects with a body shot that sends Mad's belly button to the back.
Mad seems to have got his legs back now.
Merridew keeps the fight on the outside.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mad looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Merridew tests Mad's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Merridew swats away the attempt to clinch by Mad.

enabling Merridew to counter with a crisp jab.

Mad takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Merridew stuns Mad with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Merridew lands with a hook. Mad tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Mad misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Merridew.
Merridew wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Merridew has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Mad throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Merridew blocks it with crossed arms.

Merridew pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Merridew jabs Mad to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Mad tries to clinch but Merridew is having none of it.
Merridew cracks a nice hook into Mad's ribs.
Merridew scores with a decent looking hook.
Mad is looking to clinch but Merridew is avoiding it.
Merridew is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mad had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Nice body punch from Merridew.
Merridew throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mad stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mad is looking to clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mad takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mad is breathing heavily.
Mad tries to clinch up
and Merridew makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
