PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pete Schwetty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dutch Delight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pete Schwetty!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Dutch Delight!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwetty is looking to clinch but Delight is avoiding it.
Schwetty moves to clinch but Delight breaks away

and Delight counters with a shoot takedown. Schwetty fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Delight stopping the sweep attempt from Schwetty.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schwetty is working an open guard so Delight takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Schwetty for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Delight stands up from Schwetty's guard - Delight perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Delight counters with a takedown into side control.

Delight stands up and beckons Schwetty to his feet.

Delight has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Schwetty is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Delight has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Schwetty after a bit of a struggle.

Delight's coach down at Soul Supremacy - UK was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Delight's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Delight is trying to drag Schwetty to the mat but Schwetty just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

and Delight counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Delight gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Delight swats away the attempt to clinch by Schwetty.
Pete Schwetty seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Delight counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Schwetty!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
You can see the frustration on Schwetty's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Dutch Delight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Schwetty wants to clinch but Delight slips to the side

so Delight counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Schwetty on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schwetty tries to get out of the position.
Delight being controlled here momentarily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Schwetty rushes Delight and presses him up against the cage.
Delight goes for a takedown in the clinch but Schwetty prevents it.
Delight can't get the takedown.
Schwetty effectively controlling the action here.

Schwetty seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Delight wants to take the fight to the mat but Schwetty manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Schwetty tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Delight wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Delight has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Delight gets to his feet. Schwetty looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Delight counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Schwetty's guard now.
Schwetty is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dutch Delight comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Delight winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
