Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ratt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joeli Babitu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes comes to the cage accompanied by Country boy can survive. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Hughes throws the left hand but Babitu avoids the punch easily.
Babitu lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hughes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hughes throws a right hand that Babitu ducks under and follows up with a left that Babitu also avoids with ease.
Hughes fails to land the takedown.
Babitu has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hughes is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Hughes fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Babitu to the ground. Hughes is now in Babitu's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Hughes counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Babitu thinking.

Good leg kick by Hughes there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Babitu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hughes darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Babitu is pressed up against the cage. Hughes has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Babitu down to the mat. Babitu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hughes lands a nice leg kick that just misses Babitu's sensitive parts.
Hughes avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Babitu slaps away a takedown attempt from Hughes, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hughes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Babitu takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
