The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fydrich's half guard.

Alvarez is nestled in close to Fydrich, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Alvarez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Alvarez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Alvarez maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Fydrich could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Alvarez has cracked it and Fydrich is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Alvarez!
