Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spencer Pennington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eddy Royal! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Royal throws a hook to the side of Pennington's head but Pennington sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Royal manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pennington on his heels. He'll look to pass Pennington's guard now, I'm sure. Royal wants to control from the top but Pennington keeps moving. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pennington holds on and takes a little breather. Royal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Royal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Royal tries to free his leg and advance position but Pennington is retaining full guard. Pennington managing to control the position. Pennington's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We're going to have a standup here because Spencer Pennington wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Royal throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pennington's waist but Pennington gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Royal off to one side. Pennington moves out of range as Royal strikes. Pennington really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Royal gets caught napping as Pennington dives in and scores a takedown. Royal manages to retain guard. Pennington postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Pennington looking to finish Royal with some ground and pound. This is bad for Royal! Pennington punishing his opponent with strikes. Pennington has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Royal's face.

Spencer Pennington overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pennington with shots to the head and body - Royal looks very uncomfortable down there. Royal has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
