The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hog tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Christian counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hog is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Hog misses with a series of wild punches.
Christian dodges the punch combination from Hog.
Christian tries to sprawl but Hog drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Christian is trying to control but can't.
Hog content to control rather than advance.
Hog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Christian wants to get back to his feet.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jared Hog wasn't active enough on the ground.
Christian with a lazy takedown attempt
and Hog counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hog.
Hog has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Christian is trying to keep an underhook but Hog manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Christian looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hog seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hog is looking for a kimura but Christian is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hog to get the leverage.
Hog is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Christian is just riding it out for now. Hog eventually gives up the hold.
