Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alfonso Caiazzo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Christopher Duffy! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duffy takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Caiazzo throws a right and a left that Duffy avoids nicely. A swing and a miss from Caiazzo. Caiazzo lands an overhand right. A combination from Caiazzo does no damage. Duffy scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Caiazzo is pushing Duffy's head away, looking to escape. Duffy manages to hold on to the position though. Caiazzo sneaks back into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Duffy is stalling here. Caiazzo is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Duffy seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Caiazzo has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Duffy looking for a sweep but Caiazzo has passed into full mount! Oh no! Duffy felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Caiazzo wants to get back to his feet but Duffy is holding on tight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duffy is desperately trying to improve his position but Caiazzo has a good base and remains in mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Caiazzo has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Duffy is forced to tap!
