PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyron Woodley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Foxtrot Flannigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyron Woodley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Foxtrot Flannigan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flannigan shoots and misses

and Woodley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Flannigan won't be happy with that.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Woodley is pressing down on Flannigan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Flannigan is holding on for now.

Woodley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Flannigan is just riding it out for now. Woodley eventually gives up the hold.

Woodley is taking a breather. Flannigan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Woodley wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Flannigan, who protects the arm well.

That was a close second round but I would say that Tyron Woodley will probably get the nod.

Flannigan shoots in looking for a takedown but Woodley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Flannigan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Flannigan throws a sloppy head kick and Woodley moves out of range easily.

and Woodley counters with a nice body shot.
Flannigan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Woodley as he avoids it easily.
Woodley shoots in and drives through. Flannigan sprawls well.

and Woodley counters with a left and a right that stings Flannigan.
Tyron Woodley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Foxtrot Flannigan.

Flannigan gets caught napping as Woodley dives in and scores a takedown. Flannigan manages to retain guard.

Woodley drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Flannigan dives on top into guard.

Woodley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Flannigan defends it well.

Well Woodley has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
