Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joe Gage!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gage throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Gage lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gage uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Akesson.
Akesson throws a hook to the side of Gage's head but Gage sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Akesson connects with a looping right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gage throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've been informed that Gage has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Akesson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Gage checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Akesson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gage scores with a body shot.
Gage works Akesson's body with a nice hook.
Akesson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Gage. Gage obviously looking to wear him down.
A chopping leg kick lands by Gage.
Gage drops Akesson with a beautiful combination! Akesson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Gage is looking for the KO!
It looks like Jimmie Akesson has been cut.
Gage fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Akesson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Akesson is breathing heavily.
Gage circles away from the clinch attempt.
We've been told by Akesson's head coaches at Vale Tudo Elite Sparring that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Gage lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Gage throws a wild body kick that Akesson sees coming a mile off.
A punch lands to the side of Akesson 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Akesson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gage lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gage fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Gage feints and then cracks Akesson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Akesson down.
Akesson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Nice body kick there by Gage.
Gage scores with the left hand. Akesson knows he should have avoided that one.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Akesson takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Gage digs a good hook to Akesson's body.
Gage thuds a left hand into Akesson's body.
Gage connects with a leg kick. Akesson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Akesson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Gage is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Akesson rather than just go for the knockout.
Gage drops Akesson with a huge uppercut! Akesson drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Gage is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Gage!
A determined Joe Gage didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
