Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gordy Richardson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Seid! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richardson tests Seid's chin there with a solid looking shot.
It looks like Patrick Seid has been cut. Seid shoots in for a double leg but Richardson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Horrible takedown by Seid or perhaps it was just good defense by Richardson which made him look bad. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Seid. Gordy Richardson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Seid. Richardson misses with a low kick.
Richardson catches Seid napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Seid to the canvas!
Seid is rocked! Seid keeping moving, preventing Richardson from controlling successfully. Seid throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Richardson stands up and waves to Seid to follow him. Richardson misses with a double jab.
Richardson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A cross from Richardson lands. Richardson gets a takedown into half guard. Seid looks gassed! Richardson trying to mount his opponent but Seid defends it.

Richardson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Seid gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Richardson tries to free his leg and advance position but Seid is retaining full guard. Seid looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Richardson is stalling in the full guard. Richardson wants to control from the top but Seid keeps moving.

Seid takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Seid has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Richardson finds it's way round the side to connect with Seid's head. Richardson connects with a nice looking jab.
Richardson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Richardson throws a nice looking combination but Seid bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Richardson tries a low kick but Seid avoids it. Nice takedown defense from Richardson. No joy for Seid on that attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richardson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Seid. Richardson lands with an overhand left. Richardson stuffs the takedown. Richardson lands a nice shot to the body.
Richardson throws a right and a left that Seid avoids nicely. Richardson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Richardson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Richardson avoids the strikes from the bottom by Seid. Seid can't do much from the bottom here. Richardson controlling from side mount. Seid takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Seid is being controlled here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richardson wants to stand but Seid has his arm trapped. You can see the frustration on Seid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Seid is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Richardson off and has taken his back! Seid connects with a big shot to the side of Richardson's head.
Seid working for a choke but Richardson is defending well. Richardson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Seid looking for the choke from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Seid is not content to let Richardson control the position. Richardson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seid shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Richardson as he jumps to the side. Richardson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Seid looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Richardson's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Richardson duly obliges. Richardson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Richardson punishes Seid's body with a nice straight punch. Richardson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Good standup being displayed there by Richardson as he connects with a hook. Richardson attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Seid on the wrong end of a nice jab. Richardson's corner calls for a 1-2. Richardson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Richardson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Seid can do to turn this around? Seid drives through with a takedown into guard. Richardson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Seid is controlling him. Seid controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Seid preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Richardson throws a big shot that misses. Good exchange - Richardson coming out on top. Richardson fails to land with a series of punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Richardson throws a looping overhand right but Seid ducks down to avoid it. Seid shoots in for a takedown but Richardson shows good takedown defense. Seid shoots in but Richardson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Richardson throws a right and a left that Seid avoids nicely. Richardson throws a series of punches but Seid avoids them all with ease. Seid bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Seid is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Richardson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Richardson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Seid presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Richardson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Patrick Seid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gordy Richardson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Seid is working for a guillotine from mount but Richardson frees his head quite easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Gordy Richardson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Richardson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
