Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Maksim Zotov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Rothstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zotov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Мы расправи. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maksim Zotov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arnold Rothstein! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rothstein is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Rothstein avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Rothstein staying out of range there. Zotov pivots, looking for a leg kick but Rothstein is out of range and Zotov settles back down. Zotov tries to clinch up. Zotov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Zotov throws an overhand right that lands on Rothstein's shoulder, as Rothstein tries to avoid the shot. Rothstein throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An inside leg kick from Zotov misses. Rothstein looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Rothstein throws a low kick but it's checked well by Zotov. Zotov takes a body punch but keeps moving. A bone on bone clash there as Rothstein blocks the leg kick.

Zotov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Rothstein thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Zotov if he has to take too many more of those.
Rothstein ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rothstein avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Zotov takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Zotov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rothstein delivers a nice body kick. A solid leg kick lands there for Zotov.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zotov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rothstein jabs Zotov to the body, keeping him at a distance. Rothstein looking to score a takedown here. Zotov is defending well but Rothstein drives through and ends up in Zotov's guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Rothstein is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Let's hope that Rothstein has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Zotov wants to sweep but no luck. Zotov throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

The crowd are getting on Rothstein's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. Zotov swings wildly with an uppercut but Rothstein uses good head movement to avoid it. Rothstein lands a left hand that snaps the head of Zotov backwards. Zotov taking a breather. Rothstein breaks from the clinch.
Rothstein jabs Zotov right on the nose. Zotov blinks but takes it well. Rothstein fails to land with a series of punches.
Rothstein takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Zotov tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Rothstein throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zotov is looking to score with low kicks. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zotov throws a leg kick and Rothstein counters with a left to the body. Rothstein throws a leg kick but Zotov moved away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. A jab lands there for Zotov. Rothstein dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zotov. That did some damage! Zotov throws out a loose jab but Rothstein uses good head movement to avoid it. Rothstein tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Zotov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rothstein has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Zotov gets caught flat footed, as Rothstein shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Rothstein slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Zotov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rothstein postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Rothstein is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Arnold Rothstein. Rothstein turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zotov is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rothstein slows the pace down. Zotov wants to control but Rothstein postures up. Rothstein moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Zotov tries to buck Rothstein off but Rothstein is having none of it. Rothstein landing a few strikes. Rothstein connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Zotov some visible discomfort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zotov tries to get back to half guard but can't. Zotov struggling a bit here. Zotov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rothstein's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Rothstein is taking a breather. Zotov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Zotov makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Zotov. Rothstein is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Zotov tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rothstein stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zotov swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rothstein slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Rothstein scoring with punches to the head and body.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Arnold Rothstein wasn't active enough on the ground. Zotov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Rothstein tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Zotov is able to avoid easily. Rothstein is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Zotov rather than just go for the knockout. Zotov throws a lazy body kick and Rothstein makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Rothstein swinging wildly here.

Zotov misses with a body kick. Rothstein fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zotov manages to avoid it. Decent striking displayed by Zotov there. Zotov throws a leg kick and Rothstein counters with a slapping leg kick. Rothstein throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Zotov is trying to get back to full guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rothstein working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Zotov looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Arnold Rothstein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
