PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lindsey Sykes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and T J Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker has chosen Skillet - Monster (Video) as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lindsey Sykes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, T J Walker!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sykes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Walker defends well and Sykes ends up having to push Walker into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Sykes keeps control of Walker as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sykes struggles to land a body shot inside as Walker controls his hands.
Walker has had enough of the clinch but Sykes keeps him there for the moment.
Sykes wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Walker has him pressed against the cage.
Sykes is trying to push Walker away but Walker has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Sykes stalling in the clinch.
Walker tries to break free but Sykes pushes him back against the cage.

Sykes is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Walker is defending well for now.

Walker has Sykes pressed against the cage, preventing Sykes from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Sykes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Walker clinches.
Walker tries to break the clinch but Sykes is controlling the position.
Walker wants to get back to striking at distance but Sykes won't allow it.
Sykes keeps control of Walker as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Sykes keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Walker's efforts to push away.

Sykes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sykes fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Walker, pushing him back against the cage.
Sykes wants to break free but Walker has control.
Walker can't break the clinch.

Walker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Oooooh!!! Walker has knocked Sykes down with a huge combo! Walker steps away and waves a wobbly Sykes back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


It looks like Lindsey Sykes has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sykes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sykes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Walker preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Walker is trying to stand.
Walker wants to improve his position but Sykes is controlling well.
Walker is pressing down on Sykes's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Walker pulls Sykes in close to his closed guard and prevents Sykes from doing any damage or advancing position.
Sykes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walker is keeping the position for now.
Sykes in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Sykes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Walker manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sykes has Walker in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Walker wants to stand but Sykes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sykes working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Walker.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Sykes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

T J Walker dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Lindsey Sykes's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Walker feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Walker gets to his feet. Sykes looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Walker lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sykes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sykes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Sykes gets tackled into the cage by Walker. Walker maintains the clinch.

Walker's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sykes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Walker is really turning it up, unleashing another crisp combination which drops Sykes like a ton of bricks! The referee dives in to stop the fight, saving Sykes from another fist facial!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). T J Walker!
During a confident post fight interview, T J Walker thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
