Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delphino Atlantis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Meguru Takayanagi!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takayanagi misses with a series of wild punches.
Takayanagi throws a left and a right that both miss

and Atlantis counters with a single leg into guard. Takayanagi didn't expect that.
Atlantis trying to control but Takayanagi is working from the bottom.
Atlantis pushes down on Takayanagi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Takayanagi is staying active underneath Atlantis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Atlantis wants to work for an arm triangle but Takayanagi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Takayanagi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Atlantis is trying to control the action in half guard but Takayanagi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Atlantis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Takayanagi is looking for a sweep. Atlantis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Atlantis content to control rather than advance.
Atlantis is keen to just control but Takayanagi is a slippery customer.

Atlantis goes for an armbar but Takayanagi turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Takayanagi.
Takayanagi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Atlantis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Takayanagi lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Atlantis controls Takayanagi momentarily but Takayanagi frees himself.
Atlantis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Atlantis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Takayanagi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Atlantis wants to sweep but no luck.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Atlantis is on top in guard.

Atlantis drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Takayanagi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Atlantis has Takayanagi in his guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Meguru Takayanagi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Our spies down at at Lock and Roll Grappling Gym inform us that Takayanagi has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Atlantis is working for an americana but Takayanagi has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Atlantis was thinking about the submission.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Atlantis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
