Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donny Bragg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bragg's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Orzi Beats. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Donny Bragg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Forrest Gump!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bragg throws an off balance right hand
and Gump counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bragg tries to close the distance and clinch but Gump swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bragg tries to clinch up but Gump circles away and keeps his distance.
Bragg tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gump manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gump with a jab.
Gump uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bragg has time to react.
Bragg misses with a hook to the body
and Gump counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bragg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Donny Bragg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gump tried to score with a low kick but Bragg checks it.
Bragg misses with a lunging right hand
and Gump cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gump lands an overhand right.

and Gump counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bragg thinking.
Gump throws a combination. Bragg tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Forrest Gump is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Gump counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Bragg looking to score a takedown here. Gump is defending well but Bragg drives through and ends up in Gump's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Bragg's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Donny Bragg wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bragg tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gump sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bragg somewhat.

and Gump counters with a nice uppercut.
Gump has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
A right-left combo lands from Gump.
Gump throws a one two combo.
Gump's coach down at Elite Warriors was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gump's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gump moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Gump connects with a body shot that sends Bragg's belly button to the back.
Bragg rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gump counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Bragg misses with a left hand
and Gump counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bragg thinking.
Gump is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bragg had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Bragg tries to clinch but Gump is having none of it.
Bragg tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gump paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Gump counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gump is working the combinations to good effect here.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bragg in particular looking to stall.
Gump tries to roll over but Bragg keeps him under control.

Gump is looking to control Bragg's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gump avoid being mounted?
Bragg thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Bragg is controlling the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gump pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Bragg back to the cage. Gump follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Bragg takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Bragg gets a clinch.

Bragg turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bragg manages to end up in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gump tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bragg wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gump is trying to escape the position but Bragg is controlling the position.
Bragg has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Gump wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Gump is not content to let Bragg control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bragg works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Gump scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Gump throws a combination. Bragg tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Bragg takes a jab right on the kisser.

Bragg shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bragg showed some decent athleticism there.
Gump is trying to control but can't.
Gump tries to get to full guard but Bragg has control of the leg.
Bragg drops an elbow to the side of Gump's head.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bragg in particular looking to stall.
Bragg stops Gump from getting back to his feet.
Bragg is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Bragg has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bragg prevents Gump from improving his position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gump tries to roll over but Bragg keeps him under control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bragg looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gump is trying to maintain the position but Bragg is very close to passing his half guard.
Bragg throwing shots but Gump is blocking nicely.

Gump moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Gump controls Bragg momentarily but Bragg frees himself.
Bragg trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bragg accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bragg is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bragg looks to score with a jab to the body but Gump is just out of range.

Gump goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Bragg just misses with a punch to the body.
Gump dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Bragg rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Bragg takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bragg throws a poor cross that misses
and Gump counters with a three punch combo that has Bragg backing up. Bragg nods at Gump to acknowledge the strikes.

Bragg moves into the clinch.
Bragg looking for a takedown.
Bragg on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Bragg is trying to trip Gump. He has hold of a leg but Gump is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bragg persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Gump trying to keep a closed guard but Bragg is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bragg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bragg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bragg shoots in looking for a takedown but Gump manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bragg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gump keeps the fight on the outside.
Gump lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bragg at a distance.
Gump lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bragg shoots in but Gump avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donny Bragg. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gump lands with an overhand left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Bragg's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


The fighters circle momentarily. Gump darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Gump digs a good body shot into Bragg's ribs.
Gump lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Bragg backs up against the cage.

enabling Gump to counter with a crisp jab.
Bragg throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Bragg takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Bragg is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Gump's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Bragg doesn't manage to clinch there - Gump circles away.
Bragg throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gump counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Bragg swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gump connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Gump counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gump feints a jab promting Bragg to slip. Gump then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Bragg slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gump.

Bragg shoots in and bounces Gump off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Bragg with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bragg seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bragg postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bragg working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gump controls Bragg momentarily but Bragg frees himself.
Bragg passes Gump's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Gump is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bragg's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bragg's back!
Despite being in a bad position, Bragg is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.

Gump must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bragg manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gump is bucking up trying to escape but Bragg cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Donny Bragg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bragg cracks Gump with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Gump from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Bragg is riding his opponent, not letting Gump buck him off.
Gump breaks Bragg's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bragg, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
