Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Merle Jacobson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Reginald Thornbury! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Ron Honeybunn and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A shot to the liver by Thornbury. Beautiful body shot. Thornbury tries to score with a low kick but Jacobson moves his leg out of the way. Thornbury keeps the fight on the outside. Jacobson has managed to clinch.
Jacobson really is a fat lump. Jacobson controlling the action here for a moment.
Both fighters working to control the clinch. Jacobson pressing his opponent against the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Merle Jacobson. Thornbury misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thornbury pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thornbury rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jacobson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Thornbury throws a body punch but Jacobson moves out of range. Thornbury pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jacobson back to the cage. Thornbury follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Merle Jacobson has been cut. Thornbury looks winded! Thornbury is looking to clinch but Jacobson is avoiding it.
Thornbury leaves Jacobson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jacobson moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Thornbury goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jacobson prevents it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thornbury is trying to force a seperation but Jacobson has the dominant position. Jacobson stalling in the clinch.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Merle Jacobson. Jacobson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thornbury tries to avoid it but Jacobson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thornbury to the ground. Thornbury escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jacobson slaps away a takedown attempt from Thornbury, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jacobson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jacobson has hold of Thornbury's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Thornbury seems comfortable defending it but Jacobson has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Thornbury is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Thornbury is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Jacobson couldn't care less - he's delighted!
