Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chibi Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zachary Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendoza is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Back For More. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zachary Mendoza! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendoza throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tsushima drives through with a takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Tsushima wants to control from the top but Mendoza keeps moving. Tsushima throwing strikes but missing. Tsushima is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Tsushima stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendoza swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tsushima is working hard here to advance position. Tsushima pushing down on Mendoza's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Tsushima trying to pass the guard but Mendoza defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendoza is defending against the submission attempts here by Tsushima.
Mendoza is looking for a sweep. Tsushima is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mendoza wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tsushima is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Mendoza wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Tsushima is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mendoza has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mendoza!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendoza won't allow Tsushima to sweep him here. Mendoza must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tsushima looking to control.
Tsushima wants to hit a switch here but Mendoza passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Tsushima there! Mendoza avoids the attempt from Tsushima to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mendoza fails to advance to Tsushima's back. Tsushima has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Tsushima is looking to improve his position but Mendoza isn't that keen on the idea.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Tsushima is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Tsushima sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Tsushima is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendoza keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Tsushima wants to improve his position but Mendoza is controlling well.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tsushima is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mendoza is aware though and is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chibi Tsushima dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mendoza stuffs the takedown attempt from Tsushima. Tsushima gets slowly back to his feet. Tsushima tries for a takedown but Mendoza sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tsushima takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. A jab from Mendoza does it's job there. Tsushima has taken the fight to the clinch.

Tsushima misses with a hook from the clinch. Mendoza has had enough of the clinch but Tsushima keeps him there for the moment. Mendoza is trying to break free. A frustrated look appears on Mendoza's face as he tries to break the clinch. Tsushima lands a hook to the side of the head. Mendoza breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Tsushima fails with the takedown and Mendoza counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chibi Tsushima. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tsushima blocks a jab. Tsushima dodges the punch combination from Mendoza.

and Tsushima counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mendoza! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mendoza tries to buck Tsushima off but Tsushima is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tsushima landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Mendoza regains half guard. Tsushima is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mendoza has managed to free his arm - good work. Tsushima is looking for a kimura but Mendoza is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tsushima to get the leverage. Tsushima is keen to just control but Mendoza is a slippery customer. Tsushima stops Mendoza from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendoza regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Tsushima. Tsushima pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mendoza is keeping the position for now. Tsushima trying to control but Mendoza is working from the bottom. Mendoza avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Tsushima connects with a couple of short punches. Mendoza is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mendoza keeping full guard, as Tsushima tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Tsushima trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tsushima seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Tsushima shoots in but no luck this time. Mendoza ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tsushima moves away. A momentary lapse in concentration from Mendoza enables Tsushima to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mendoza manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Tsushima has gone for a leg lock! Mendoza slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tsushima's guard. Mendoza avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tsushima is trying to control the position but Mendoza postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chibi Tsushima dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

Mendoza softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Tsushima misses with a hook from the clinch. Mendoza wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tsushima has him pressed against the cage. Mendoza is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Mendoza is trying to break the clinch but Tsushima is controlling him. Mendoza is trying to force a seperation but Tsushima has the dominant position. A short right from Tsushima. Tsushima breaks from the clinch.
Tsushima closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Mendoza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Tsushima is looking for a kimura here.
Chibi Tsushima overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Tsushima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mendoza keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tsushima throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Mendoza has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tsushima is working away from the top position though. Tsushima wants to pass to mount but Mendoza is defending the position. Mendoza tries to roll over but Tsushima keeps him under control. Tsushima is looking for a kimura here.
Zachary Mendoza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tsushima trying to mount his opponent but Mendoza defends it. Tsushima misses with a head shot. Mendoza uses the momentum to regain guard. Tsushima slips nicely into half guard. Tsushima tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mendoza knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Mendoza wants to control but Tsushima is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tsushima trying to pass the guard but Mendoza defending well. Tsushima is just content to waste time from the top position. Mendoza takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Mendoza working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Tsushima. Mendoza keeping full guard, as Tsushima tries to pass. Mendoza utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Tsushima sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mendoza's guard. Mendoza wants to get back to full guard. Tsushima trying to control from half guard but Mendoza is working away. Mendoza felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendoza won't allow Tsushima to pass to mount. Tsushima blocks the strikes from Mendoza.

Tsushima passes to full mount! Chibi Tsushima is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tsushima swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Mendoza is now in Tsushima's guard. A big mistake from Tsushima there, giving up the dominant position!
And that's the end of the fight! Chibi Tsushima showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tsushima, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Chibi Tsushima! A relieved looking Chibi Tsushima thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
