The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but K manages to avoid it.
K throws a jab when Smirnov was well out of range.
K has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Nelson Fight Camp in the buildup to the fight.
Smirnov thows a left - swing and a miss!
Smirnov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt K .
We've been informed that Smirnov has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Smirnov blocks the body kick.
A telegraphed right hand from K misses the target.
K throws a hook but Smirnov blocks it.
Smirnov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but K moves away.

K misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smirnov.
Alexander Smirnov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

K tries to land a front kick but Smirnov steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Smirnov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Smirnov throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Oh K is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Smirnov scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. K doesn't seem bothered though.

and Smirnov counters with a big right hand that sends K crashing to the mat! He's very wobbly - can he beat the count?! 5,6,7,8... he's up! No, he's down again! 9,10! He's done! The referee calls an end to the bout - Smirnov takes it!

Alexander Smirnov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
