4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lagar Prechnyan! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prechnyan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jab, jab by Prechnyan - just one landing.
It looks like Luis Strickland has been cut. Strickland closes the distance and clinches. Strickland prevents the takedown attempt.
Prechnyan looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Prechnyan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Strickland decides to pull guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Strickland looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Strickland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Prechnyan trying to control the position from guard on top but Strickland is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Prechnyan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Prechnyan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Strickland moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Strickland ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Prechnyan looks for a takedown but Strickland sprawls well. Prechnyan misses with a combination
and Strickland counters with a head kick. Prechnyan shoots in but Strickland avoids the takedown attempt easily. Luis Strickland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lagar Prechnyan. Prechnyan throws a lazy head kick and Strickland counters with a two punch combo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Strickland keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Prechnyan looks winded! Strickland closes the distance and clinches. A head punch blocked on the inside by Strickland. A frustrated look appears on Prechnyan's face as he tries to break the clinch. Prechnyan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Prechnyan stops a takedown attempt from Strickland.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Prechnyan tries to circle away but Strickland has him pinned against the cage.

Prechnyan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Strickland working Prechnyan over with knees to the body. Prechnyan looking for a takedown. Strickland has Prechnyan pressed against the cage, preventing Prechnyan from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Prechnyan tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Strickland's elbow. Prechnyan tries to break the clinch but Strickland is controlling the position. Strickland pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Prechnyan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Strickland swats him away and circles back towards the center. Strickland misses with a few strikes there.
Strickland lands a nice looking kick to the body. Prechnyan takes a step back to recover. A low kick from Prechnyan misses letting Strickland counter with a right hand. Prechnyan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Luis Strickland is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fight moves into the clinch position. Strickland pulls Prechnyan into guard.

Prechnyan dives in and grabs Strickland's left leg, looking for a takedown. Strickland pushes down on Prechnyan's head and hops out. Prechnyan pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Prechnyan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Strickland sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Strickland throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Prechnyan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Strickland moves away. The fight moves into the clinch position. Strickland blocking some punches.
We've been informed that Prechnyan has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Prechnyan is trying to break the clinch but Strickland is controlling him. Strickland is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strickland prevents a body shot from Prechnyan. Strickland prevents Prechnyan from breaking the clinch. Prechnyan is trying to force a seperation but Strickland has the dominant position. Prechnyan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Strickland pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Prechnyan throws a head kick that misses enabling Strickland to counter with a crisp jab. and Strickland counters with a head kick. Strickland wants to clinch up but Prechnyan keeps it at a distance. Prechnyan tries to clinch and Strickland counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Prechnyan looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Strickland closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Strickland tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Prechnyan just stands there and leans against the cage. Strickland gets control of Prechnyan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Strickland will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Prechnyan is looking to stand up but Strickland won't let him. Strickland is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Strickland looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Strickland is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Prechnyan is controlling him. Strickland manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prechnyan tries for a takedown but Strickland sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Prechnyan shoots in looking for a takedown but Strickland manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Prechnyan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Strickland drops his hands momentarily and Prechnyan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Prechnyan misses with a jab, cross combination.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Strickland circles away from the clinch attempt.

Prechnyan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Prechnyan misses the shot to the body. Prechnyan throws a right and a left that Strickland avoids nicely. A head kick by Prechnyan misses and Strickland makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Prechnyan really felt that one! Strickland throws a series of punches but Prechnyan moves out of range. Strickland fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Prechnyan, pushing him back against the cage. Strickland keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Prechnyan's efforts to push away. Prechnyan jumps guard but Strickland stands there with Prechnyan around his waist. Prechnyan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. A head kick by Prechnyan misses and Strickland counters with a two punch combo. Strickland wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Luis Strickland has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Strickland. Prechnyan shrugs it off though.
