Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Tucker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stanton Friedmon! The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Friedmon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Friedmon in side control, throwing shots but Tucker defends. Friedmon trying to control the position but Tucker is working away. Friedmon tries to score with some ground and pound. Tucker controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. An elbow from Friedmon crashes against the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Friedmon landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Friedmon lands a decent elbow from side control. Friedmon scoring with punches from side control. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. You can see the frustration on Tucker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Tucker is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Friedmon grinds an elbow into Tucker's temple. Tucker pushes Friedmon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Friedmon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Tucker prevents Friedmon from moving into mount. Tucker tries to buck Friedmon off but Friedmon is having none of it. Friedmon scores with a couple of short elbows. Friedmon tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Friedmon cracks Tucker with a big right hand but Tucker just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Tucker is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Tucker can't do much from the bottom here. Friedmon creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Friedmon is chipping away with strikes.
Tucker is breathing heavily. Friedmon cracks Tucker with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Friedmon working the ground and pound. Friedmon lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Tucker is trying to improve his position. Tucker sneaks out the side door and pushes Friedmon away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Friedmon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tucker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Friedmon cracks Tucker with a big elbow. Friedmon is putting a hurting on Tucker here, landing some big shots from side control. Tucker is not content to let Friedmon control the position. Tucker takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Friedmon lands a few punches from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tucker is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Stanton Friedmon dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Friedmon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Friedmon scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Friedmon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tucker! Friedmon raining down shots from the mount! Friedmon with a couple of short strikes.
Tucker is rocked! Friedmon dominating with strikes here. Friedmon landing strikes from the mount. Oh Tucker is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Stanton Friedmon has got the better of the ground game so far. Friedmon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action! Friedmon looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Tucker covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
