Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cortez Brennan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Hunter! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ron Honeybunn and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brennan gets the takedown into side control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Brennan tries to stand but Hunter is controlling his head. Brennan stands up and we're back to a striking position. Hunter misses with a low kick.
Brennan avoids the head kick by Hunter.
Brennan drives through with a takedown into Hunter's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Hunter working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Brennan has passed into half guard!
Hunter tries to roll over but Brennan keeps him under control. Brennan tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Brennan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter tries to get to full guard but Brennan has control of the leg. Hunter trying to control from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunter looking for submissions off his back. Brennan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Hunter looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Hunter looks winded! Hunter pushes Brennan off looking to stand but Brennan dives back in and keeps control.
Brennan content to control rather than advance. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Brennan wants to stand up but Hunter is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter works his way to full guard. Good work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brennan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Brennan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Brennan seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hunter for as long as he can get away with.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Cortez Brennan just wasn't active enough. Some wild striking there from Hunter.
Hunter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Brennan's guard. Brennan keeping moving, preventing Hunter from controlling successfully. Brennan controlling Hunter's posture. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hunter looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cortez Brennan dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Hunter darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Brennan keeping control of the position. Brennan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Brennan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hunter's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hunter's back! Brennan just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Hunter tries to escape but Brennan has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Hunter turns into Brennan and is now in his guard.
Hunter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hunter is looking to work some ground and pound but Brennan has wrist control. Hunter trying to control but Brennan is working from the bottom. Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brennan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brennan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brennan! Hunter is breathing heavily. Brennan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hunter will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brennan has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hunter can't break the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brennan slows down the pace here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunter gets a trip takedown into half guard. Hunter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brennan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Brennan wants to improve his position but Hunter is controlling well.
Brennan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Brennan.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brennan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hunter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Brennan keeping full guard, as Hunter tries to pass. Hunter trying to control the position from guard on top but Brennan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hunter advances position into side control! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hunter swings around for an armbar but Brennan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hunter's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Jake Hunter will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Brennan clinches up against the cage. Hunter gets a trip takedown into half guard. Hunter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hunter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hunter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's one minute gone in the round. Brennan tries to kick Hunter off but Hunter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Hunter not landing any meaningful shots this time. Hunter wants to pass the guard but Brennan is defending well. Hunter wants to work for an arm triangle but Brennan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hunter is pressing down on Brennan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Brennan is holding on for now. Hunter missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Brennan is trying to get back to full guard. Brennan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunter trying to control the position from guard on top but Brennan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hunter has gone for a leg lock! Brennan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hunter's guard. Hunter controls Brennan momentarily but Brennan frees himself. Brennan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Brennan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hunter's guard. Brennan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hunter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brennan has managed to get both his arms back between Hunter's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brennan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Brennan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Brennan is looking to stand up but Hunter won't let him. Cortez Brennan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Brennan content to stall in guard here.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Cortez Brennan wasn't doing enough on the ground. Brennan closes the distance and pushes Hunter back into the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunter wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hunter has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Brennan is trying to keep an underhook but Hunter manages to get the takedown into half guard. Brennan tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Hunter is working for a submission of some sort.
Brennan is trying to control but can't.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Brennan is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Hunter is tapping! Great win for Brennan!
