Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendall Cross!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Cross has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hawk is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Hawk throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sloppy strikes from Hawk. Those never looked like landing.
A bone on bone clash there as Cross blocks the leg kick.

Cross manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hawk on his heels. He'll look to pass Hawk's guard now, I'm sure.
Cross must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hawk is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Cross controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Cross is working Hawk over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Cross is looking to take a break and control but Hawk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cross connects with a nice short shot to Hawk's temple.

Hawk tries to reverse the position but Cross maintains control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hawk throws a leg kick that is checked

and Cross counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hawk's guard now.

Hawk looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Cross. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kendall Cross decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
