Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arc Turian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Octavius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arc Turian has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arc Turian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Julius Octavius!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turian moves out of range of the leg kick from Octavius.
Turian jabs at Octavius's body.
Turian tries to clinch but Octavius is having none of it.
Turian tries to work over Octavius's front leg with a kick but Octavius checks it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Turian.

Turian gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A hook to the body from Turian.
Turian unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Turian lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Octavius or not.
Turian misses with a punch to the body.
Turian lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Turian blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Octavius slowing the pace effectively.
Octavius swings wildly with an uppercut but Turian uses good head movement to avoid it.
Turian lands a left hand.

Turian scores with a knee to the head.
Turian is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Turian connects with a nasty looking knee right to Octavius's face.


It looks like Julius Octavius has been cut.
Turian gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Octavius.
Octavius's coach down at Hilo Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Octavius's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Octavius manages to pull guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Turian controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Octavius is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Turian defends well.
Octavius controls Turian momentarily but Turian frees himself.

Turian got a little sloppy there for a moment and Octavius has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Turian has managed to get both his arms back between Octavius's legs - danger averted.

Turian prevents Octavius from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Octavius tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Turian has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Octavius is in all sorts of trouble here.
Octavius tries to lock up and control but Turian gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Octavius is working to get back to half guard.
Octavius is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Arc Turian will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Julius Octavius's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Octavius decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Turian tries to kick Octavius off but Octavius keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Turian is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Broken Halo's -Temple of Illumination, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Turian tries to roll over but Octavius keeps him under control.
Turian won't allow Octavius to pass to mount.
Octavius keeps trying to improve his position.

Turian wants to get back to his feet.
Turian on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Turian tries to get out of the position.
Turian has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Octavius is working away from the top position though.

Turian is trying is best to control the position here.

Octavius seems to be working for a kimura but Turian defends the submission attempt.

Octavius seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Turian does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Octavius thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Turian's head.
Turian is trying to control but Octavius manages to pass to mount!
Turian is desperately trying to improve his position but Octavius has a good base and remains in mount.

Turian is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Turian might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Octavius thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Octavius is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Octavius is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Turian is in real trouble.

Turian wants to control his opponent's hands but Octavius gets his hands free.

Turian knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Octavius on the ground.

Turian tries to escape but Octavius has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Julius Octavius has got the better of the ground game so far.

Turian is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Octavius gets his way!

Octavius has his arm under Turian's chin here. Game over son! Octavius squeezes tightly and Turian is forced to tap out!
