Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Riccardo Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Carvery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Carvery struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Riccardo Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Daniel Carvery!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvery wants to clinch up but Rodriguez keeps it at a distance.
Carvery tries to clinch but Rodriguez is having none of it.
Carvery has a takedown stuffed.
Carvery fails with a takedown attempt.
Rodriguez slaps away a takedown attempt from Carvery, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Riccardo Rodriguez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Carvery.
Carvery takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Carvery looks for a takedown but Rodriguez sprawls well.
Carvery has his takedown stuffed
and Rodriguez counters with a series of strikes. Carvery will be more careful next time no doubt.

and Rodriguez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Carvery's guard now.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rodriguez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Carvery looking for a guillotine here but Rodriguez defends easily.
Rodriguez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Carvery's guard.

Rodriguez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Rodriguez wants to pass the guard but Carvery is defending well.
Carvery tries to kick Rodriguez off but Rodriguez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carvery wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Rodriguez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carvery is just riding it out for now. Rodriguez eventually gives up the hold.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rodriguez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Carvery!

Rodriguez wants to take Carvery's back here but Carvery is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Carvery is squirming around, avoiding Rodriguez's attempts to control the action.

Rodriguez swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
