Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ship goes for a double leg but Thompson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Thompson continues to drive forward.
Ship manages to break the clinch.
Thompson avoids the head kick by Ship.
Thompson throws a sloppy head kick and Ship moves out of range easily.
Ship dodges the punch combination from Thompson.
Thompson looks to land a combination but Ship avoids it well.
Thompson tries to keep at a distance but Ship has taken the fight into the clinch.
Thompson tries to circle away but Ship has him pinned against the cage.
Ship tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Thompson's elbow.
Thompson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ship has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Thompson is trying to keep an underhook but Ship manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ship looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ship is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Thompson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ship.
Thompson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thompson.

Thompson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ship manages to get himself to full guard.

Ship is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Ship is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ship is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thompson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thompson.

Thompson tries to bum rush Ship with a series of wild strikes but Ship uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Roman Ship wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown but Ship shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ship feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
