Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcellus Carr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bastion Gallara!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carr throws a sloppy head kick
and Gallara counters with a body kick.
Carr circles away from the clinch attempt

and Carr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gallara's guard.
Gallara looking to control.

Gallara looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gallara is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Carr looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gallara not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bastion Gallara has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A combination from Carr does no damage.
Gallara misses with a takedown attempt
and Carr counters with a nice leg kick.

Carr looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Carr content to control rather than advance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Gallara trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Gallara wants to control but Carr is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carr controlling his opponent.

Carr is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Gallara tries to clinch but Carr moves away

and Carr counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Carr controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Carr stands up and waves to Gallara to follow him.
Gallara looks winded!
Carr thows a left - swing and a miss!

Carr closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carr prevents Gallara from improving his position.
Gallara on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcellus Carr dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Carr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gallara gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Carr counters with a nice body shot.
Gallara shoots and misses
and Gallara takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Carr looks to land a left hand but Gallara moved out of range nicely.
Gallara lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carr circles away quickly and effectively.
Carr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Carr misses with a hook.
A looping hook to the body misses from Carr. Gallara does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carr swings for the body but Gallara moves out of range.
Gallara is breathing heavily.
Gallara fails with the takedown
and Carr connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Marcellus Carr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bastion Gallara.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carr fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gallara sprawls well initially but Carr persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gallara wants to control but Carr is keeping busy.
Carr slows the pace down in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Carr swings for the body but Gallara moves out of range.
Carr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gallara.
Gallara tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Carr counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Carr.

Carr pulls guard.

Carr has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gallara off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Carr lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gallara with a lazy takedown attempt

and Carr counters by moving into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Carr just misses with a punch to the body.
Carr throws a big shot that misses.
Gallara closes the distance looking to clinch
and Carr counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Carr bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carr decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Carr throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bastion Gallara is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gallara looks to land a left hand but Carr moved out of range nicely.

Gallara gets caught flat footed, as Carr shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gallara tries to strike from the bottom.
Carr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gallara is trying to keep Carr in close.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gallara wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Carr is now in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcellus Carr dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Carr closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gallara to the mat! Gallara manages to get full guard.

Carr controls from within his opponent's guard.
Gallara takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Carr has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Marcellus Carr just wasn't active enough.

Carr moves into range and clinches up with Gallara.
Gallara is looking to break free of the clinch but Carr has double underhooks.
Gallara jumps guard but Carr stands there with Gallara around his waist. Gallara gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Carr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gallara just misses with a punch to the body.
Gallara wants to clinch but Carr slips to the side

and Carr counters by clinching up.
Carr's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Carr breaks from the clinch.
Gallara tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Carr counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gallara is lucky that one didn't land flush.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carr lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gallara circles away quickly and effectively.
Carr throws a head kick that misses
and Gallara counters with a two punch combo.
Gallara gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Carr counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Carr stays in close to Gallara's body and controls the position.
Gallara wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Carr is now in half guard.
Carr working Gallara over with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gallara wants to sweep but Carr has passed to side control!
A lull in the action here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

And that's the end of the fight!
Marcellus Carr showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Carr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
