Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Barnett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Gordon Freeman! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnett rushes Freeman and presses him up against the cage. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Barnett has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Freeman taking a breather. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Gordon Freeman. A jab from Freeman misses. Freeman blocks a leg kick. Freeman scores with a three punch combo!
It looks like Josh Barnett has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnett shoots in for a double leg but Freeman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Freeman displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Barnett. Freeman throws a head kick but Barnett moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Barnett is defended easily by Freeman. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh Barnett. That's going to take a lot out of him. Barnett moves to clinch but Freeman breaks away and Freeman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Barnett fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Freeman is out of range. Barnett shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Freeman pinned against the cage. Freeman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Barnett ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Freeman feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Barnetts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barnett fails with an attempt to clinch.
Barnett takes the fight into the clinch. Freeman looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Freeman pressing his opponent against the cage. Barnett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Barnett tries to clinch but Freeman is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnett will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Horrible takedown attempt by Barnett or perhaps it was just good defense by Freeman, which made it look bad. Barnett is looking to clinch but Freeman is avoiding it.
Freeman stuffs the takedown attempt from Barnett. Barnett gets slowly back to his feet. Barnett closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Barnett stands up and beckons Freeman to his feet. Freeman tries to bum rush Barnett with a series of wild strikes but Barnett uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Freeman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Barnett.
Barnett throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barnett closes this distance looking for a takedown but Freeman circles away. Freeman missing with a left hand there. Barnett was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Barnett wants to clinch up but Freeman keeps it at a distance. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barnett moves into the clinch. Barnett misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Freeman.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Josh Barnett will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Josh Barnett's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Barnett displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Freeman connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Barnett! He's out on his feet! Freeman rushes in and drops Barnett with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Gordon Freeman!
